In The Beginning

My name is Johnny Barfuss. When I was fifteen years old, my Dad came to me and said. "We want to open a music store, and we want you to be a part of it." For a 15-year-old I really didn't understand what any of that meant. But it's a moment that has stuck with me throughout my life.

That was 28 years ago. At the time there were 3 other music stores in the area that were closing their doors. I always thought it strange that he would want to open a business when there were other similar businesses closing. Back when we first started the name was Bountiful Music Service... where service is our bottom line. My Dad had a friend design a logo, where service was the bottom line.  We made it our mission to provide the best customer service!

I was fortunate to learn first hand from my Mom about some very important rules of business. I've also been lucky to work in other stores and in other businesses where Customer Service is taught. It's always the same message: The customer is the most important person in business.

I recently returned to working in the music store after a few years being away. Whenever someone would ask me, i'd always say: "I really miss the customers - I miss my piano teachers and my soccer moms!"  And it's true. We really do have the best customers!

We also just opened a store in Kaysville. The situation is reminiscent of opening our Bountiful location - another business was just going to close the doors, and we decided to take over the existing location.

I'm so happy and grateful to be working at the music store again. It's such a great place to be. I know we've made many mistakes over the years but we are still dedicated to providing great service to YOU, the customer.

I know that you have many options when it comes to shopping these days. I feel like the music store is just like the bookstore and the fabric store... there's just something about fingering through the music, being able to try it out on the Yellow Piano - and having the personal interaction. If there's anything I can ever do to make your shopping experience better, please feel free to call me at 801-548-1479.

Thank you so much for 28 years of an amazing business. We really appreciate you!

Sincerely, Johnny Barfuss

I would really like to browse what you have online. Maybe you can't have everything, but I am looking for a folding music stand, for example, and I don't know if you carry that type of stuff. You could just list the types of things you carry. That would be helpful.
